The Three Tuns, Biddenham

I have spent the past couple of years slowly hunting down all the best Sunday roasts in Bedfordshire, with thanks to my followers for providing me with a never ending list of recommendations. My most recent roast dinner spot off the list was the rather lovely Three Tuns pub in Biddenham.

This cosy thatched pub has a unexpectedly airy bar with lots of space to spread out, plus it’s dog friendly in here too. There’s also a separate restaurant and a beautiful garden filled with lots of trees and twinkling fairy lights in the evening, the perfect pub garden for warmer days.

The menu has a bit of everything with classic pub grub and elevated dishes, I think there’s something for all tastes here. We went on a Sunday and the roast was very impressive!

We went hungry so opted for a couple of starters to get going, we shared the salt and pepper squid with nuoc cham and the peri peri flamed wings. Both were packed with flavour and really got us excited for the main event!
For the main course, I ordered the herb roasted rump of beef which was perfectly pink and very tender. It came served with some excellent duck fat roast potatoes, Yorkshire puddings, roasted carrots & parsnips as well as some spiced red cabbage and tenderstem broccoli. There was also a generous portion of cauliflower cheese gratin and a serious pour of proper beef bone gravy.

I find it almost impossible to not order dessert, especially when there is an apple & pear crumble on the menu! The portion was huge with a whole jug of custard too. The team also surprised me with a decadent chocolate and Nutella layered brownie which was pure chocoholic heaven. The perfect end to any meal.

An excellent choice for a Sunday roast near Bedford and a lovely modern pub to enjoy it in too!
